* All employees receive a bonus of a month’s salary in June and at Christmas, so in effect they are paid 14 times their monthly salary each year.
* Tax and national insurance add up to total deductions of around 23%.
* The legal maximum for a working week is 40 hours.
* Annual leave entitlement is 22 days, plus 12 obligatory and two optional public holidays.
* Holidays are mainly taken during August, which can lead to some factory ‘shut downs’.
* The working day may be longer as an extended lunch break or siesta is quite common.
